Somewhere at the intersection of the ruthless and honest brutality of Suicide and Big Black and the uncomfortable intimacy of Shannon Wright or PJ Harvey lies this recording - tight as a wire-walker's line.
Favorite track: Laura Black.
Content Note: these songs may reference and deal with themes of assault, partner abuse and stalking.
"Laura Black" is the true story of a stalker who developed an infatuation for his coworker, Laura Black. After she made it clear she didn't want to date him, he decided to bring heavily artillery in to work one day, believing he could "make her love him".
"Runaway" is just metered talking that I thought fit. Sometimes you just need to turn and run.
"Body In The Reeds" is dedicated to abducted people. In the USA, there's even a database of so-called 'found bodies', discovered in marshes, ditches and dumpsters. Nobody reported them missing, nobody knows who they were. I think they at least deserve to have a song.
"Silk House" is about an emotionally abusive relationship. No cuts, no abrasions.
5th Track (included in download only): "Promised You A Miracle" is a cheesy 80's pop tune by Simple Minds. I always thought it ought to be darker, so I decided to reinvent it.
